Athletics at San Miguel School
Athletics are an integral part of San Miguel’s educational experience. We recognize the importance of physical activity and team sports to adolescent development. All students are required to participate in physical education (PE) classes. Students are also encouraged to engage in optional team sports to learn the rules of individual sports and the values of team play and sportsmanship.
We offer students a variety of athletic activities and options for participating in team sports. Students participate in weekly PE class and bi-weekly outdoor exercise with exposure to such activities as tennis and floor hockey. Opportunities to participate in team sports, include soccer, basketball and lacrosse. This fall we were also delighted to see the return of our flag football team, and our first ever cross country team! San Miguel’s soccer and basketball teams compete through the Archdiocese of Washington’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program.
We could not be prouder of our San Miguel athletes. They compete with integrity and determination. For the last two years, the San Miguel varsity soccer team, the “Stars”, won the CYO Championship title. Both the varsity and junior varsity soccer teams hold prior year championships titles. Our lacrosse team maintained an undefeated record for the 2023 spring season. We hope you are able to check out our young men in action on the field!
