San Miguel School Welcomes Professionals for 2021 Career Day
San Miguel School welcomed professionals from law enforcement, legal, medical and financial fields as it celebrated its first Career Day in two years Friday, Oct. 29.
The special event marked the most visitors San Miguel School has welcomed in one day since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
It was an electric day in the halls of San Miguel School as students got to hear from accomplished professionals about their fields, how they achieved professional success and what lessons the students could also take away from their remarks.
Among the speakers were:
Eli Vazquez, a Cuban-immigrant who now serves as CEO of the Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union.
Kimberly Seward, a nurse practitioner in Maryland who eagerly shared with students her experience working in an emergency room and also what it has been like to work in the healthcare field during a pandemic.
Bo Pham, a Vietnamese-American immigrant and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy who now serves as director, of the Division of Operating Reactor Licensing at the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Also in attendance were a half dozen FBI employees who shared with students their own experiences working in federal law enforcement. Students took great interest in their career path, wanted to know how they, too, could work in law enforcement and even weathered pouring rain outside to check out the FBI agents’ vehicles parked on George
