San Miguel Alumni Celebrate First Reunion Event

Alumni from the first 20 years of San Miguel School history gathered for a Reunion celebration on Saturday, June 18.

The event, held at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park, Maryland, also welcomed recent alumni and parents of alumni. Members of the Class of 2022 — who graduated only a week before the Reunion — were in attendance and got a chance to meet and interact their older peers.

Attendees were greeted by San Miguel President Maureen Appel, who reminded the alums in attendance that they may be past students of San Miguel, but they also represent the future of San Miguel. She encouraged the group to return to San Miguel, visit and speak to current students to inspire them and let them see what is possible academically and professionally. The alums were also encouraged to consider volunteering or someday serving in a leadership role with San Miguel.

Alfonso Motta, San Miguel’s director of graduate support, was also in attendance. He welcomed the group and congratulated them for their successes.

About 40 alumni attended the first reunion and Appel said she hopes this will become a recurring annual event and larger draw for the more than 370 San Miguel alumni — most of whom still live in the Washington metropolitan region.
