Volunteer Spotlight: Andrew Farrelly

Last Friday, the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County celebrated the work of the Catholic school community at their 26th annual gala. As a participating member, San Miguel nominated our long-time board member, supporter, and friend, Andrew Farrelly, as our Volunteer of the Year.

Since 2020, Andrew has dedicated his time, expertise, and creativity to open doors for San Miguel students. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees, Andrew helped found the Entrepreneurship Club at San Miguel in 2021. A favorite among San Miguel students, the Entrepreneurship Club allows students to gain first-hand experience in the lifecycle of a business. As the Entrepreneurship Club’s leader, Andrew meets students weekly on campus to guide their work in getting a small business off the ground.

Most recently, during the 2023-2024 school year, the students’ business venture centered on creating and selling San Miguel T-shirts. Andrew guided students as they conceptualized a design, selected a manufacturer, advertised, and sold their product. Most of the proceeds from the club's business ventures are reinvested into the school, allowing students a sense of pride as they contribute directly to their education. Finally, Andrew takes great pride in regularly making homemade pizza for the aspiring entrepreneurs. The students come for the pizza and stay for the ROI.

We are grateful for Andrew’s innovative leadership. While instructing students about business practices, his expertise empowers them to experience their first taste of entrepreneurial success. Andrew's dedication to our students has a direct impact, and we cherish his creativity, generosity, and commitment to our mission. Congratulations to San Miguel’s Volunteer of the Year, Andrew Farrelly!
