San Miguel Celebrates Second Cooke Scholar in Two Years

Eighth-grade student Simon R. was named a Cooke Young Scholar, a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship.

Simon, Class of 2025

The highly selective scholarship is awarded to about sixty high-achieving students nationwide each year. Simon is the third San Miguel student to earn this distinction, following Kelvin Mejia in 2008 and Lander (Class of 2024) just last year.

As a Cooke Young Scholar, Simon will receive financial support for high school and extracurricular activities. He will also receive academic and college advising and have access to summer programs, community initiatives, and networking opportunities.

Since his first quarter in sixth grade, Simon has consistently earned High Honors at San Miguel. He serves as president of the Student Ambassadors Club and is an active member of the cross-country team and the newspaper club. Simon aspires to attend Phillips Exeter Academy, Phillips Academy Andover, or Choate Rosemary Hall.
