San Miguel Graduate Wins Posse Foundation Scholarship
Stefen Rincon, a San Miguel School graduate from the Class of 2017 and currently a senior at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School will attend Sewanee: The University of the South this fall. As part of the honor, Rincon will receive a full-tuition Posse Foundation scholarship.
Rincon was selected from more than 16,000 applications for the Posse Foundation scholarship. The Posse Foundation’s model works for both students and college campuses and is built on the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students—a Posse—carefully selected and trained, can catalyze individual and community development. The Posse Foundation looks to help grow and support future leaders of the 21st century who will reflect the United States’ rich demographics.
A 2017 graduate of San Miguel School, Rincon attends St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, and serves as the president of the Students of Color Association, which he founded last summer with fellow students.. He is also a president of the Latinx Club, captain of St. Andrew’s Dance Team, and an alumnus of the Student Diversity Leadership Conference as both an attendee and a peer facilitator.
At Sewanee, Rincon said he is looking forward to preparing for a career that would allow him to serve others, potentially studying to become a teacher, a pediatrician, or a veterinarian.
