San Miguel School Community Celebrates Milestone Anniversary and Founding of San Miguel Circle
Supporters, faculty, staff, students, and leaders of San Miguel School gathered on May 12 to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary and the founding of the San Miguel Circle.
The San Miguel Circle is a distinguished group of friends and supporters of San Miguel School who demonstrate extraordinary generosity and leadership to advance the mission and impact. Student representatives from all grades welcomed guests and discussed different facets of school life, including core classes, science fair experiments, athletic teams, and clubs.
The band, led by longtime music instructor Pat Quinn, kicked off the formal start of the program with an impressive performance of “Let It Be” by the Beatles.
Those in attendance enjoyed addresses from San Miguel School Board of Trustees Chair Eddie Quinn, San Miguel President Maureen Appel, eighth-grader Bladimir F. and graduate and board member Emmanuel Callejas ‘10. Callejas is the first San Miguel graduate to join the board, and he is currently attending medical school at Howard University.
The event marked the first time the extended San Miguel community has been able to come together in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also brought together for the first time in years many of the leading figures in San Miguel School history, including founding President Br. Thomas Gerrow, founding Principal Br. Francis Eells, former President Don Mullikin and several distinguished past members of San Miguel’s Board of Trustees.
